Abstract

Introduction: Cervicitis is a significant health problem for women worldwide. Cervicitis is an inflammatory syndrome of the cervix and is a common manifestation of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), such as Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Chlamydia trachomatis. Cervical cancer is cancer that occurs in the uterine cervix.

Methods: This study employed a descriptive analytical method with a cross-sectional approach. Statistical testing employed the chi-square test. The population and sample size for the study were 50 respondents. The sampling technique used was total sampling. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between perceptions, the role of cadres and information media on the behavior of women of childbearing age in undergoing cervical cancer screening through Pap Smear at the Danga Community Health Center.

Results: The results of the study showed that the behavior of women of childbearing age in conducting cervical cancer screening was in the category of less than good (58%); perception was less than good (52%); the role of cadres had the same composition as good (50%) and information media was less than good (60%). The bivariate results showed a relationship between perception (p-value = 0,011; OR = 5,56); the role of cadres (p-value = 0,022; OR = 4,75) and information media (p-value = 0,016; OR = 5,1) on the behavior of women of childbearing age in conducting cervical cancer screening by conducting Pap Smear examination at Danga Health Center.

Discussion: The conclusion is that there is a relationship between perception, the role of cadres and information media on the behavior of women of childbearing age in conducting cervical cancer screening by conducting Pap Smear. The research suggests that the Community Health Center should increase cooperation with the community in terms of educating the community about the benefits of Pap Smear in early cervical cancer prevention.
